William Connor Obituary

William E. Connor, 89, of Washington passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on January 12, 2022.

William, son of the late Clarence Connor and Marie nee Gildehaus, was born November 9, 1932 in Washington. He received his education from St. Francis Borgia School. He served his country honorably as a member of the United States Navy from 1950 to 1953.

Bill was united in marriage to Bernice Aholt on May 5, 1956 at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church. They spent 65 wonderful years together before Bernice died in July of 2021. The couple made their home in Washington and the marriage was blessed with four children.

Bill was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Washington VFW, Knights of Columbus and the Elks. He was a hard worker and was employed at Ameren as a lineman/overhead repairman for 37 years. He retired at age 57 and spent may joyful years raising cattle and working on the farm with his best friend Hoyt and his wife Bernice. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be remembered as a loving, kind, gentle man who never spoke ill of anyone.

He is lovingly survived by one son Jeff and wife Bev, Washington; two daughters, Beth Maniaci and husband Mike of Washington; and Keli Graham and husband Jim, Ballwin; one son-in-law Rich Marquart and wife Becky, Washington, 13 grand children; Ben Connor and wife Emily; Jennifer Gradel and husband Jeffrey; Amy Connor and fiance Darrell Cain; Dustin Maniaci; Brittany Locher and husband Eric; Demi Maniaci; Taylor Marquart; Rehgan Marquart; Alexa Kramer; Sara Kramer; Connor Kramer; Abby Birk and husband Peter; Justin Graham; twelve great grand children; sisters Kathy Noelker and husband Don; Ruth Noelker; Marty Dennis; and brother Mike Connor and wife Mary; and other relatives and friends.

William was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bernice Connor; daughter Lynn Marquart; and in-laws, Jerry Dennnis, Dale Noelker, Armella Peirick; Joanne Roetheli, Irene Kleekamp, Mary Beth Haddox, Norbert Aholt, Wilfred Aholt and Francis Aholt.

A visitation will be held on Thursday January 20, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. A memorial mass will be held on Friday January 21, 2022 at 12:00 noon at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Memorial donations can be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
