Richard Westermeyer Obituary

Richard P. Westermeyer,73, of Washington, passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2018, in Washington. Richard, son of the late Paul Westermeyer and his wife Emma (nee Kampschroeder) was born February 20, 1945, in Washington. He received his education from St. Francis Borgia High School. Rich served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army.  On September 25, 1971, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Schnarre at the Femme Osage United Church of Christ. Mr. Westermeyer retired from MODOT after 37 years. He was a proud member of the Washington Volunteer Fire Company since 1968 and a longtime member of the American Legion Post 218. Rich loved spending time outdoors hunting and fishing, and adored spending time with his grandchildren.

 

Among his survivors are his wife, Phyllis Westermeyer of Washington; two sons, Todd Westermeyer and wife Julie of New Haven and Kyle Westermeyer of Washington; two grandchildren, Ellie and Ryan Westermeyer; mother-in-law, Myrtle Schnarre of Washington; two sisters, Bonnie Scanlan of Washington and Mary Kopp and husband Roland of Washington; sister-in-law, Eunice Schnarre of Mexico, Missouri; other relatives; and friends.

 

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law, James Scanlan and Dale Schnarre.
