Othmar Voss Obituary

Othmar John Voss of Washington, Missouri passed away at the age of 90 on April 5, 2023. Othmar was born December 6, 1932, in Clover Bottom, Missouri, the son of Edwin and Cecelia Voss. He was married to the late Mary Voss nee Holdmeyer on May 12, 1956.

Othmar was survived by his four children: Allen and wife Barb of Washington, MO; Dale and wife Maureen of Marthasville, MO; Linda Beuke and husband Robert of Krakow, MO; and Chris and wife Natalie of Dardenne Prairie, MO, He was also survived by his sister Dorothy Kleekamp, and his sisters-in-law Sister Mary Paul Holdmeyer, Rosalee Voss, Edith Holdmeyer, Arlene Holdmeyer.

Othmar was the grandfather to ten grandchildren: Benjamin Voss, Laura Schoenike, Jacob Voss, Colleen Winning, the late Thomas Voss, Robert Beuke, Jessica Steenburgen, Blake Vorwerk, Kyle Vorwerk, and Zachary Voss; and great-grandfather to 14 children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Cecelia, his wife, Mary, his brothers, Alfred, Raymond, and Norbert, his sister Rita Brinker, and his grandson, Thomas.

Othmar worked as a welder for over thirty years for Zero Manufacturing in Washington, MO and was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus of Washington. He retired as a farmer raising cattle on his farm east of town. He was a lover of Macey-Ferguson tractors and participated in the Knights of Columbus Journey for Charity Tractor Cruise. Othmar was an avid fisherman, taking pride in stocking his farm pond with largemouth bass, channel catfish, and grass carp. Othmar could often be found with hand-written copies of favorite jokes folded in his pocket and ready to share with all.

A visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, with a mass beginning at 11 a.m. to honor Mr. Voss. Donations may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes. Othmar has donated his body for the furtherance of the study of medicine to St. Louis University School of Medicine.
