Norma Green Obituary

Norma Jeraldine Green (nee Stanley) was born on July 17, 1943 to Roy Stanley, Sr. and Marjorie G. Stanley (nee Buril) in Washington, MO. She transitioned peacefully on December 19, 2021 at The Bluffs Healthcare Facility in Columbia, MO.

Norma was the oldest of 16 children born to Roy and Marjorie but she was raised by her Grandmother, Hazel Buril, who lived just down the hill from her parents. During Norma’s high school years, she loved to play volleyball and could always be seen with her best girlfriends; Evangeline Ellis and Joan Bates. She graduated from Washington High School in 1961.

In 1963, Norma was united in marriage to James Jacobs of Pacific, MO and to this union three daughters were born: Jeanette Michelle, Kimberly Noel & Marjorie Denise then in 1968 Norma married for a second time to Tommy Green, who was stationed in Germany, and to this union another daughter was born: Patricia Evonne.

When Patricia was five months old, Norma moved back to the states and decided to put down roots and build a life in University City, Missouri. She worked for Centerpoint Energy in Ladue for thirty years until they relocated to Shreveport, LA. At that point, Norma decided to remain in St. Louis and go to work for Hill-Behan Lumber Company in Pagedale and when they closed in 2002, she decided to semi-retire. She went to work part-time for FS Curtis Air Compressors in Wellston and worked there until she retired for good.

Norma was an avid reader who could read a large, hard cover novel and finish it in a few days. She also loved westerns, comedies, science fiction movies, all genres of music and last but not least, butterflies. She even gifted herself a butterfly tattoo for her 70th birthday. Speaking of butterflies, she was a social butterfly who struck up a conversation with anyone she came in contact with.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Marjorie; two sisters, Patricia E. Stanley and Ida M. Harvey; one brother, Patrick W. Stanley and a set of twin siblings.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Jeanette Martin (Darran), Kimberly Bagley (Jason), Marjorie Jacobs and Patricia Carter (Derrell); her grandchildren: Jasmine Jacobs, Kristina Sanders, Denny ‘DJ’ Sanders, Alexandria Brown, Jasten Jacobs, Jordan Jacobs, Damien Sanders, Justin Carter, Jacob Cherry, Joshua Carter, and Nathan Bagley; her great-grandchildren: Aubrey Brown, Makena Sanders, Wyatt Whited and Layne Sanders; her siblings: Roy Stanley, Jr. (Buck), James Stanley (Ronnie), Paulette Stanley, Robert Stanley (Bobby), Jacqueline Stanley, George Stanley, Larry Stanley, William Stanley (Butch), Pamela Stanley-Prowell (Jeanie) and Christopher Stanley (Chris); and a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, extended family and many friends.
