Mary Alfermann Obituary

Mary Alice Alfermann (nee Ruether), 80, of Washington, passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2018, at Cedarcrest Manor. Mary Alice was born in Dutzow on September 16, 1938, to the late Hugo and Elfrieda (nee Volkerding) Ruether. She was united in marriage to Francis “Sonny” Alfermann on May 24, 1958, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church. Mary Alice was a devoted parishioner of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church and a member of the Ladies Sodality and the Church craft group. She was a prior leader for the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and 4-H and a member of the Knights of Columbus Auxillary. Her family would like to thank the staff of Cedarcrest Manor for their wonderful and gentle care that Mary Alice had during the last twenty-two months there.

 

A memorial Mass will be held on Monday, October 8, 2018, at 10 am at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church. Inurnment will be at future date. Friends and family are invited to pray the Rosary on Sunday, October 7, at 3 pm at Miller Funeral Home. A visitation will follow until 7 pm. Memorial donations are appreciated to St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church or the Grade School.

 

Mary Alice is survived by her husband Francis “Sonny” Alfermann of Washington; four children, Shelly Meyer and husband Jerry of Washington, Chad Alfermann and wife Nickie of Washington, Trisha Alfermann of Chicago, Illinois, and Staci Harris and husband Robert of Annandale, Virginia; three siblings, Steven Ruether and wife Gail, Dan Ruether, and Les Ruether and wife Ann, all of Washington; four grandchildren, Melissa Heitmann and husband Jason of Washington, Jeremy Meyer and wife Kristin of Salem, Oregon, Cory Alfermann of Washington, Jessica Bieker and husband Nathan of Union; five great-grandchildren, Nathan Heitmann, Joe Heitmann, Rylee Bieker, Izyc Bieker, and Mavryc Bieker; six siblings-in-law, Audrey Ruether of Washington, Annette Ruether of Union, Jen Garbs and husband Gus of Washington, Dennis Alfermann and wife Barb of Washington, Rich Alfermann and wife Barb of Washington, and Kathy Eikermann and husband Don of Texas; other relatives, and friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugo and Elfrieda Ruether; one son, Rick Alfermann; six siblings, Carl Ruether, Hook Ruether and wife Jane, Jim Ruether, Ron Ruether, Rich Ruether, and Cheryl Ruether; and two sisters-in-law, Rose Miller and husband Roy and Ruth Ann Schriewer and husband Wayne.
