Joseph Westhoff Obituary

Joseph “Joe” M. Westhoff, 89, of Washington, passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at Cedarcrest Manor. Joe was born on January 13, 1929, in Concord Hill to the late Albert and Annie (nee Sickmann) Westhoff. He was united in marriage to  Aleen Marquart on June 2, 1954, at St. Gertrude Catholic Church. Joe was an experienced carpenter and a proud member of the Carpenters Local 1839. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed playing pinochle, horseshoes, and dartball. He loved his family deeply and always looked forward to family gatherings. Joe was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2661, Knights of Columbus Seisl Council 1121, and was always willing to assist or lead projects that needed to be done as long-time parishioner at St. Gertrude Catholic Church.

 

A Parish Rosary will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at 9:30 am at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 am. Interment will follow at the Church cemetery. Memorial donations are appreciated to the St. Gertrude Parish Endowment Fund. Joe’s family will accept condolences at the Parish Center following the interment where a luncheon will be served.

 

Joe is survived by his wife Aleen Westhoff of Washington; three children, Stan Westhoff and wife Marikay, Tom Westhoff and wife Judy, and Jolene Diener and husband Scott, all of Krakow; one brother, Vic Westhoff and wife Jeanette of Dutzow; two sisters-in-law, Irene Hillerman of Krakow and Tookie Westhoff of Washington; ten grandchildren, Alan and wife Vicki, Jerry, Elizabeth, Matt and wife LeAnne, Jake and wife Isabel, Crista and husband Dave, Deanna and husband Ian, Bryan and wife Laura, Jamie and husband Jeff, and Rachel and friend Shane; eight great-grandchildren; other relatives, and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and eleven siblings: Anthony, Andrew, Leo, Sylvester, and Linus Westhoff, and Bernadine Obermark, Christine Hellebusch, Leona Massmann, Monica Voss, Mary Ballmann, and Anna Marie Steffens.
