Joseph V. Sowa

Joseph V. Sowa, 93, of Washington, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2020. Joseph, the son of the late Walter Sowa and Mary nee Kocoj, was born on May 19, 1926 in St. Louis, MO. On October 22, 1949 Joseph married his wife Peggy nee Kahmann, at St. Francis Borgia Church. Joseph was a life member of St. Francis Borgia Church and he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army in WW II.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Peggy Sowa; and son, Paul Sowa.

He is survived by his children, Barbara Rebstock and significant other Thomas Blanke of Kirkwood, Patricia Hellmann and husband Richard of High Ridge, and Anthony Sowa and wife Jenny of Washington.

Grandchildren, Joshua, Shawn, Andrea, Zachary, Jessica, Tanya, Michelle, and Miranda.

Great grandchildren, Bryce, Tyler, Kenzie, Addy, Riley, Finley, Gabi, Avery, Ella, Charlee, Baylee, Logan, and Samantha; and many other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2020, at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home at 3:00 pm until the time of the funeral service at 4:00 pm at the funeral home. The burial will follow at the St. Francis Borgia Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Franklin County Humane Society or the American Cancer Society.
