Gary Reed Obituary

Gary A. Reed, 69, of Washington, Missouri, passed away April 8, 2020 at his home.

 

He was born March 28, 1951, in Washington, Missouri, the son of Wanda Reed Randolph and Arla Reed.   He was the oldest of two sons.  

 

He attended Union High school and after high school he spent time working with his father at Tri County Truck stop and helped with his fathers business, Franklin County Oil, Inc. for a time before pursing other interest.  

 

Gary was a lover of music and art.  His hobbies Included: playing piano, painting abstract pictures and bowling.  He loved the water and as a teenager and young adult he spent many summers on his fathers house boat in the Ozarks. He was part of a band in his youth, Phase Phive and then went on to become a founder and original member of the Parchment Farm band.  He was known as a great piano player despite never taking music lessons and never learning how to read music; he played by ear.  He had a unique and special love for The Lord and a great sense of humor; he loved telling stories with a mix of fact and fiction.  

 

He is survived by his daughter, Guinevere Reed-Sundy and husband James Sundy of Gonzales, Louisiana; brother Rick Reed,  niece Kristy Reed,  nephews Derrick Reed and wife Amy, Tyrick Reed and great nephew Trenton Hakenewerth.     

 

 

He was preceded in death by his father, Arla Reed and mother Wanda Reed Randolph.
