Francis V. Meyer

Francis V. Meyer passed away Saturday, August 22, 2020 at his home in Washington, MO. He was born in New Haven, MO on February 26, 1927.

Francis was a member of New Haven Assumption Catholic Parish until he moved to Washington in 1994.  He then joined St Francis Borgia Parish where he was a current parishioner.  Francis spent the majority of his work life driving for Scheer Transfer out of New Haven, MO and then for a short time with Beaufort Transfer.  Once he left the transportation field, he worked at Walmart assembling bicycles or wherever needed. He was a member of Teamsters, Local 600; American Legion Post 366, New Haven, MO, where he was past Vice-Commander; and VFW Post 2661, Washington, MO.  His wife, Josephine, family and home were his pride and joy. 

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Josephine Meyer, nee Lackman; his son, Jerry Meyer & wife, Shelly of Washington, MO; his daughter, Karla Meyer of Albuquerque, NM; his granddaughter, Melissa Heitmann & husband, Jason of Washington, MO; his grandson, Jeremy Meyer & wife, Kristin of Salem, OR; his granddaughter, Laura Ann Gryder & grandson, Trace Francis Meyer of Albuquerque, NM; great-grandsons Nathan Heitmann & Joseph Heitmann of Washington, MO & Harrison Meyer of Salem, OR; his sister-in-law, Theresa Carroll & husband, Jim of Burlingame, KS.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Janet Meyer; his parents, Clemence & Laura (Kraft) Meyer of New Haven, MO; his siblings, Elfrieda Wolfe & husband Virgil, Wilbert (Buster) Meyer & wife, Marian; Rita Winkelmann & husband, Rudy; his in-laws, Tony Lackman & wife Aurea, Rose Schnauss & husband, Mark, Bill Lackman, Katie Meyer & husband, Bob; Stephen Lackman & wife, Marlene; Mary Stewart & husband, Chuck; Julie Lackman & Hedwig Lackman.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2020 from 4-7 P.M. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. A Memorial Mass will be on Friday, September 4, 2020 at 10 A.M. at Assumption Parish in New Haven. Memorial donations can be made to the St. Francis Borgia Church or St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
