Betty J. Helsee, 81 , of Washington, passed away on April 28, 2022. Betty, daughter of the late Alvin Kappelmann and Jenny nee Filla, was born on November 3, 1940 in Washington. She received her education from the Immanuel Lutheran Grade School. On June 2, 1962, she was united in marriage to Eugene Helsee at the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
She loved decorating her yard with flowers and lawn decor. She had several jobs as a young woman but the one that stuck was being an in home day care provider for 37 years. After retiring she spent her remaining years with her beloved husband.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Bob Strubberg Jr.; brother, Don Kappelmann and in-laws, Wayne Bell and wife Bernice and Wendell Bell.
Among her survivors are her husband Eugene Helsee of Washington; children, Kathy Holtgrieve and husband Ken of Comfort, TX, Tim Marsch and wife Missie of Stony Hill, MO, Bryan Helsee and wife Dee of Tulsa, OK, and Jennifer Strubberg of Washington; siblings, Shirley Ham of Washington, Charlie Kappelmann and wife Betty of Sullivan, and Tom Kappelmann and wife Gail of Willow Springs, MO; grandchildren, Matt Holtgrieve and wife Emily of Texas, Kristina Patton and husband Clayton of Texas, Amber Knight and husband Rick of Connecticut, Noah, Hannah, and Martha Helsee of Tulsa, OK, and Olivia and Adrianna Strubberg of Washington; great-grandchildren, Zac and Fletcher Holtgrieve, AJ, Kase, and Luke Patton, and Chloe Knight; in-laws, June Kappelmann of Washington, Delores Bell of Pacific, Rodney Bell and wife Marylou of Washington, and Virgil Frisbie and wife Jari of Springfield, MO; other relatives and many friends.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2022 from 1-3 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the funeral service beginning at 3 p.m. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church or School.
